Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions - "The Trouble Is" (2010)

new single, and I like it.

A bit monotone, but truly like their "Mazzy Star" work, and I'm a sucker for that.

Clip is ... magic gothical

Everything But The Girl - "Acoustic" (1992)

no titles that sound familiar, so I'm curious...

nice. oh wait, all covers...

  • "time after time" : is it theirs originally? doubt it...
  • "Alison" : Elliot Smith. Not a big fan of this song, this version is ok.
  • "Downtown Train" : ok

All nice, nothing special.

Klaus Schulze, Pete Namlook and Bill Laswell - "Dark Side of the Moog 3" (1995)

second song from this album, "Phantom Heart Brother Part II" is the kind of ambient that made me fall in love with Klaus Schulze.

fourth song, "Phantom Heart Brother Part IV" is more techno-ish, 80-ish. cool!

Aravind Adiga - "The White Tiger"

winner of the man booker prize 2008
Got it from a friend, just started. Must say I have to get used to his way of writing. It keeps nagging me that I cannot understand the reasoning of someone writing a letter like this to the Highest Chinese statesperson. Yes, it is explained, he will visit India to understand how entrepeneurs work, but ... there is something amiss in his sentences, his rambling... too much information. yet I am doing the very same thing, almost.
There are some good descriptions though, and I'm only at page 41 yet.
Finally, I wrote this:  Finished "White Tiger". Took me quite some time to get used to his tone of voice. Didn't buy it at the beginning... but got to like it, and the chapter where he speaks to the City and the City spoke back to him through beggars and girls on the street was simply amazing. Haven't been to India but many things sounded "Asian"... still, what did I miss?
