Daft Punk - "Technologic"

The music itself isn't the best, but the quiet parlando part at the beginning, with the empty revved electrolized voice just listing words, would be an awesome start of a film or clip. Imagine, just a black screen, cinema in darkness, those words, for thirty seconds or more, then either very slowly or very fast images of people consumed by technology.

(perhaps I'm describing the clip?)

Daft Punk - "Giurgio by Moroder" (Random Access Memory)

Listening to some Daft Punk this morning, I realized I'm not a big fan of their biggest hits. At all. Their work on Tron is great, and I did like this song as well. Should try the whole album.

Daft Punk - "The Game Has Changed" (Tron:Legacy OST)

This is probably not the song from the opening credits (according to the title, it is the gridrace), but powerful nonetheless.

Tron : Legacy

Finally saw it at the Ultrastar Cinema (crossroad of El Camino Real and Aviara Pwy)

Quite nice. Quite enjoyable. And yes, Daft Punk did a great job (particularly on the opening which was so rudely interrupted!).

Yet I couldn't shake the feeling that this film, like so many other sequels, leaned heavily on its original. A bit too heavy, to be precise.

And though it was great, the graphics were impressive and sleek, it didn't evoke that special feeling that the original (still) evokes. Are we getting numb? Was it the geeky feeling of the original which can never be surpassed?

Terminator 2 pays hommage to T1, and manages to step beyond it *That* is a good sequel. I realise these are not common, and I guess a sequel which doesn't ruin your idea of the original isn't necessarily bad, but still...

Couldn't they, say, lift the gridracing to a whole other new level? Not by adding 3D graphics, not by using different levels, but for example, show it as a mental challenge between Sam Flynn and Clue, sitting opposite each other, with flashes of impressive racing, but mostly with their minds at battle... I don't know, just an idea.
