slow, smoky sound with a lovely "shoop!" background chorus and twangy hawaii-guitar sounds.

Dogtooth
Saw it in Santa Monica. Must've made some notes about it somewhere, but don't remember where.
Independent. Very. European, too.
Intriguing enough, the story. Yet something was amiss. Too pretentious? Horrendous? An too-open ending?
All I remember is that it didn't do it for me.
Must find me notes.
Ellen Jewell - "Codeine Arms" (Sea Of Tears)
Slow, dragging and sad, cowgirl, madeleine peyroux after 3 shots of tangy whiskey...
It's a long and lonesome ride
When your friends have all gone home
But the roses in your eyes
They pull me in so I don't feel alone
[...]
Sometimes I just can't help but cry
When I think of what we've become
Mike Ness - "The Devil In Miss Jones"
raw, swamp-blues, gritty.
Think "Bad Things-ish" (it was the Bad Things Pandora channel)
Give me your heart
Give me your soul
I'll take you when you're young
The devil in Miss Jones

Jackson C. Frank - "Milk and Honey" (Blues Run The Game)
Beautiful singer-songwriter song from the 60's. Echoes of "Windmills of My Mind".
Hard-to-find album, Pandora says.
Gold and silver burn my autumns
All too soon they'd fade and die
And then, oh there are no others
Milk and honey were their lies

I Am Kloot - "Fingerprints" (Sky At Night)
That I may have touched from without to within
Will then dust yourself of fingerprints and grin
And grin
And grin
I guess that I've been singing all my life
Well that's right
And that is fine
I've been spending all your money and your time
Well that's right
And that is fine
