Great series about the ER in a hospital in Pittsburgh.

The mass shooting scenes were a bit intense.

Big Mistakes

Brother who is a clergyman (Dan Levy, son from Schitt's Creek) and sister, primary school teacher, slowly get involved with Turkish and Russian gangsters.

Bit silly but a fun enough romp to watch. 

Casshern Sins (2008)

A remake../ reimagining? of the original 1993 (manga)

Casshern is a (robot/human?) who "killed the sun named moon", and killed Luna (...) starting The Ruin 

OK so far. 

 

Strange, alien and desolate world.  Robots think devouring Casshern will give them eternal life and protect against the Ruin.  Sophita just wants to fight everyone but is moved by his beauty.

Good music. 

"This is a gardening show"

Gardening show with & by Zach Galifianakis.  Great stuff, particularly his conversations with kids are gold.

 

Shadow and Bone (unfinished)

meh, couldn't get into it.  Very Games of Thrones ish, but without the solid storytelling.

Better Things

Fun enough series about a mum and her three daughters, and her 80 yo English mother, and life just happening.

Snappy dialogue, not _too_ snappy. Good stuff.

The Beauty

Disney plus, "the beauty" being a substance that turns people into beautiful young versions.  And can be sexually transmitted.  But some people explode.

Agents trying to frame the big bad guy.

It's alright. Story a bit all over the place, but what's good is how sometimes whole episodes take the time to explain/show one specific story bit or character.

Paradise

Post apocalyptic, enormous city in a mountain, Secret service man finds the president murdered.  A bit haphazard but fun enough.

Night Manager (s2)

Still pretty good.  Wondering if they're not gonna drag it out a bit too much with s3, as s2 ended on cliffhanger.

The Detectorists

Small Prophets

Wonderful little series (gentle comedy?) about a man growing homunculi in jars that will tell the future. Six episodes, wonderful stuff.

Shrinking (s2 and s3)

Still good, although the constant "your wife is so hot" comments get tiresome.

But some really good dialogues. 

And the scene with Harrison Ford meeting Michael J. Fox ("what are you here for?" -"Oh just a haircut") was good. 

Pluribus

 so good.

 sci fi series where an extra-terrestial signal is the base encoding for a virus that makes all humanity "one" (the "joining") except for 11 individuals.

What follows is a weirdly psychological game between Carol (writer) and them.

 

Amazing stuff. 

Foundation

Amazing, both story and the visuals

 

s3 becomes a bit unhinged.  Got the feel the whole mental part, both The Mule as well as the girl "controlling people" became easy but also plotholes

Then again, the progress of Demelzer was good, and seeing elderly Empire "Dusk" rage and refuse to die, was a good switch.  As well as the hologram Hari Seldon who wanted a real body.. He's living in a "4 dimensional object, projected in 3d space" but can't get himself a body?

 

Also: "the prime radiant breaks down when taking us (girl and The Mule) into account!" yet that's what they have been doing all along.

 

Bit weird.

s1: amazing

s2: good

s3: weird, bit meh, but quite OK for the last two episodes 

The Beast In Me

Strong series with Claire Danes as a grieving mother and the dude from that Russian spy series as her new evil neighbour who slowly unravels.

Task

Stark series, set in a small Delaware (?) city, between a motorcycle gang, and its antagonists, a man whose brother was murdered by them and who tries to take revenge by hitting their stash houses.

Tiny bit of a magic ending with the fenthanol suddnely having been sold, setting Robbie's cousin Maeve and his children up for life, but still, very good. Solid role from Mark Gruffalo.

Amsterdam Empire

new Netflix series starring Famke Janssen.

Good stuff. Bonnie St Claire's - "Dokter Bernard" is now constantly stuck in my head.  Oh, and Ron Brandsteder!
