fucking hell. A mother's will sends her twins on a search.  One to search for their father, whom they assumed died a long time ago.  One to search for their brother ... whom they didn't know existed.

Their brother, brought to an orphanage, taken by a warlord, later rapes their mother, prisoner 72, "The woman who sings".

 

 

What follows is a harrowing story, told minimalistic in the best possible way, hardly any music though Radiohead's songs (had to look them up, "You and whose army" and "Spinning Plates") will keep reminding me of this.

Have I ever listened enough to this song?

Like "Exit Music (For A Film)" without the crescendo in lyrics and music.

On a dreary Sunday morning I suddenly rediscover this song. Or no, it's no discovery, I am simply by its full force.

Radiohead makes songs about the disintegration of friendship, how even that has a structure, an inevitability that everybody, always, must question.

Radiohead - "A Wolf At The Door" (Hail To The Thief, 2003)

Beautiful. Raging lyrics, dragging you through the music, through a mind as foreign as the planets.

Love the album and this song is even a notch above the rest.

Must read this and the other lyrics more closely. As usual, they are closely connected.
